Summer in the City 2026: Luxembourg’s Biggest Summer Celebration Returns

Luxembourg City is preparing for another unforgettable season as Summer in the City 2026 returns from 12 June until 18 September, bringing three months of music, culture, heritage, entertainment and family activities to every corner of the capital.

Organised by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) in collaboration with the City of Luxembourg and numerous cultural partners, Summer in the City has become one of the country’s most anticipated annual programmes.

From free concerts and open-air cinema to major festivals, historical tours and world-class performances, the capital once again transforms into a giant outdoor stage.

A Summer Festival Spread Across An Entire City

Unlike traditional festivals confined to a single venue, Summer in the City uses the entire capital as its playground.

Historic districts such as Grund, Clausen and Pfaffenthal become concert venues. Parks host orchestral performances. Public squares fill with music, food and entertainment. UNESCO-listed fortifications open their hidden underground spaces to visitors.

The result is a unique cultural programme that attracts residents, cross-border commuters and tourists throughout the summer.

Fête de la Musique Opens The Season

The festivities begin with Fête de la Musique from 12 to 14 June.

Multiple stages will be installed across Luxembourg City, with free performances from local and international artists. Confirmed performers include Kerala Dust, The Night FM, Ninon, Sheebaba and Ice In My Eyes.

For one weekend, the city centre becomes a giant free music festival where every square, street and venue offers something different.

National Day Celebrations

The celebrations continue with Luxembourg’s National Day on 22 and 23 June.

Thousands of people will gather in the city centre for live music, official ceremonies, street entertainment and the traditional fireworks display. It remains one of the most important annual events in the Grand Duchy.

Kinnekswiss Loves Returns

The beautiful Kinnekswiss park once again becomes a major cultural venue during July.

One of the highlights is expected to be the free Philharmonic concert “Bella Notte: Puccini & Verdi” on 4 July, featuring internationally acclaimed performers Sonya Yoncheva and Vittorio Grigolo.

The combination of world-class music and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere has made Kinnekswiss Loves one of the most popular events on the Summer in the City calendar.

Gare Grooves Brings Music To The Station District

Following a successful launch, Gare Grooves returns throughout June and July.

Every Thursday evening, the district surrounding Luxembourg Central Station will host free concerts and roaming performers, bringing fresh energy to one of the city’s busiest neighbourhoods.

Plëss in Concert

Throughout the summer, Place d’Armes will once again host the popular Plëss in Concert series.

The historic bandstand will feature jazz ensembles, brass bands, classical performances, big bands and contemporary acts, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Blues’n’Jazz Rallye

One of the most iconic events of the summer returns on 18 July.

The Blues’n’Jazz Rallye transforms the historic districts of Grund, Clausen and Pfaffenthal into an enormous open-air music venue.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend performances spread across riverside locations, courtyards, bars and public spaces.

The unique setting beneath Luxembourg’s UNESCO World Heritage fortifications makes it one of Europe’s most distinctive urban music festivals.

Open-Air Cinema

Film lovers can once again enjoy screenings beneath the stars as City Open Air Cinema returns during the summer months.

The relaxed atmosphere and unique locations make these screenings a favourite among residents and visitors alike.

Discover Luxembourg’s Hidden Fortress

Summer in the City is not only about music.

Visitors can explore the city’s military history through guided tours of:

• The Bock Casemates
• The Pétrusse Casemates
• City Promenade tours
• Grand Ducal heritage tours
• Exclusive “Lost Places” fortress experiences

These tours provide access to areas that are normally inaccessible to the public.

D’Stad Liest

The popular outdoor reading programme returns, encouraging residents and visitors to relax with books, magazines and newspapers in specially designed outdoor spaces.

Schueberfouer 2026

The summer season concludes with one of Luxembourg’s most beloved traditions.

Running from 21 August until 9 September, the Schueberfouer returns to Glacis.

Founded in 1340, it remains one of Europe’s oldest funfairs and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

Thrill rides, family attractions, food stalls and traditional Luxembourg specialities ensure there is something for all ages.
