City Open Air Cinema Returns to Place Guillaume II for Another Magical Summer
As summer settles in, the Cinémathèque invites you once again to experience the magic of cinema under the stars with the return of the City Open Air Cinema. From 24 to 31 July, Place Guillaume II will transform into a vibrant outdoor movie theatre, bringing together suspense, laughter, and unforgettable moments in the heart of Luxembourg City.
This year’s programme features a standout selection of films, including “Flow”, the charming feline adventure that became a surprise box office hit and went on to win the 2025 Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Film buffs can also look forward to timeless favourites like the Coen Brothers’ cult classic “The Big Lebowski” and Charlie Chaplin’s iconic satire “The Great Dictator.”
A Special Collaboration with LUGA
New for 2025 is a unique collaboration with the LUGA exhibition, offering a fresh twist on the open-air experience. On 29 and 30 August, the Cinémathèque will take its screenings to Odendahl Park, where two enchanting evenings will unfold under the theme “making the invisible visible.”
These specially curated nights will spotlight the beauty and fragility of nature, with films that explore the lives of tiny creatures and the larger environmental issues they represent—all set within a lush garden atmosphere.
So bring a blanket, gather your friends, and enjoy some of cinema’s finest moments beneath the summer sky. Full details and screening times are available at cinematheque.lu.
