Luxembourg’s Fête de la Musique Turns 25 with Its Most Ambitious Edition Yet

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Luxembourg’s Fête de la Musique returns from 13 to 21 June, promising more music, more venues, and more diversity than ever before. With 32 organisers across 20 communes, this year’s edition is set to be the largest in the event’s history.

Over the course of just over a week, music lovers will be treated to a wide array of genres, styles, DJs, bands, and solo artists—all free of charge and open to everyone.

In 2023, the festival drew around 60,000 visitors.

Expanding Reach and Access

Two new locations join the festival circuit in 2024: Schouweiler Park and Am Duerf Cultural Centre in Junglinster. Also joining the celebration is local charity Kiemer Schof, which will host a summer festival on 14 June featuring family-friendly activities including a Zumba class—all under the Fête de la Musique banner.

While Luxembourg City and Dudelange remain central hubs for performances, the festival’s increasing presence across the country reflects its decentralised approach, supported by the Ministry of Culture. The goal: bring music closer to communities throughout Luxembourg.

This year, the festival has earned an eco-conscious label, highlighting its commitment to sustainability by reducing single-use plastics and promoting environmentally responsible practices. It has also received a “Young Talents” label, recognising its platform for emerging artists—many of whom experience performing on a public stage for the very first time.

Organisers are now working toward achieving an accessibility label for next year, which would acknowledge efforts to make the event more inclusive for people with disabilities, as well as families with pushchairs and others needing accessible infrastructure.

What’s On?

From rock, pop, and jazz to classical performances and open mic sessions, the 2024 programme offers something for every musical taste.

In Luxembourg City, Place Guillaume II reopens as a concert venue after years of renovation. It will feature performances by Ryvage, Say Yes Dog, and Adriana Selva (formerly known as Chaild), among others.

Local venues will also be active, with bars and restaurants like Gudde Wëllen and Mesa Verde’s Holy Ghost Stage hosting live acts. Dudelange will see an impressive 13 stages featuring around 60 concerts, while Mamer will host about 20 performances.

Elsewhere, Schëppe Siwen, a well-known Luxembourgish folk-rock group, will perform in Niederanven, and Bourscheid Castle will set the scene for a special jazz night on 20 June.
