Luxembourg is celebrating a new musical triumph! Singer and multi-instrumentalist Eva Marija has won the Luxembourg Song Contest 2026 with her evocative song Mother Nature, earning the honour of representing the Grand Duchy at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna this May.

Selected from eight competing acts, Eva Marija captured the hearts of both an international jury and the public televote. After a thrilling final round, Mother Nature secured a decisive victory, confirming Eva as one of Luxembourg’s most exciting new musical voices.

A Rising Star with Deep Roots

Eva Marija’s musical journey began early. Inspired at just three years old by Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak, she fell in love with the violin, a passion that has shaped her artistic identity ever since. She went on to study violin, singing, piano and bass guitar at the Luxembourg Conservatory, exploring styles from classical and jazz to pop and rock.

Born and raised in Luxembourg to Slovenian parents, Eva draws inspiration from both cultures. She has been performing since her teenage years and is currently studying songwriting in London, continuing to refine her distinctive sound.

The Story Behind Mother Nature

The song was created during a creative collaboration at Rocklab Camp, where Eva teamed up with Swedish songwriter Maria Broberg (Maria Mathea) and Danish creatives Julie Aagaard and Thomas Stengaard.

Mother Nature is inspired by the feeling of childhood playing freely in parks and forests,” Eva explains. “Nature becomes a symbol of hope, freedom and grounding. It’s an invitation to reconnect with your inner child and let go of fear.”

A spontaneous violin solo, improvised at the very end of the session, was so powerful it became a defining moment of the final song.

Luxembourg’s Eurovision Comeback Continues

Eva Marija follows in the footsteps of recent Luxembourg Song Contest winners who have successfully brought the country back to the Eurovision stage. Laura Thorn represented Luxembourg in 2025, while TALI made history in 2024 with Fighter, marking the nation’s return to Eurovision after a 31 year absence.

Together, these performances have attracted over 20 million views online, shining a spotlight on Luxembourg’s vibrant and evolving music scene.

As Eva Marija prepares to take the Eurovision stage in Vienna, she carries with her a message of creativity, connection and youthful wonder, qualities that reflect the spirit of Luxembourg itself.
